FAYM Payment Card Introduced

First Atlantic Bank has launched a debit card to provide customers with ease in shopping and also withdrawing cash.

The card dubbed: FAYM, valid for three years and launched in partnership with yfm, an Accra-based radio station, is targeted at the youth.

Speaking at the launch in Accra on Thursday, Group Head of E-Banking, Sebastian Lovelage Yalley said   the youth constituted an important customer segment to the bank.

“The future and the next generation of our customers are the youth, who constitute a greater per centage of the population,’’ he stated.

He said it was against that backdrop that the First Atlantic Bank in partnership with yfm developed the FAYM card for the youth to provide them the comfort to withdraw money and also shop.

Mr. Yalley said the card is compatible with any ATM and could be used to withdraw money from the First Atlantic partner banks such as the UBA.

He said the customers could use the card to shop at Place Shopping Mall, EPP Bookshop and enjoy a discount on any purchase made.

“The FAYM card can be used to shop online and watch movies at the Silver Bird at a great discount,’’ Mr Yalley stated.

Mr. Ebow Quayson, the Group Head of Retail Banking said the FAYM was to encourage the youth to cultivate the habit of savings and also expose them to electronic banking.

He said any bank which ignored the youth could not be a “ vibrant bank’’, saying the youth constitute the active working force and the future of the country.

“I believe this card will provide the youth all the banking services and bring them relieve in shopping or withdrawing money,’’ he stated.

The Managing Director of Global Media Alliance (GMA), Akwasi Agyeman said he was excited about the decision of  First Atlantic Bank to partner  yfm  to launch the FAYM card.

He said the vision of YFM, a subsidiary of the GMA, was to impact on society and also empower the youth to lead meaningful and independent lives. By Kingsley Asare
