Farmer remanded for defiling 6-year-old girl

defilementKwabina Mohammed, a 35-year-old farmer, has been remanded into prison custody by the Tarkwa Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman told the court presided by Mr.Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew that the victim lived with her father in a farm cottage at Wasa Asikuma, while the accused lived at Wasa Asikuma town in Wasa Akropong.
The court heard that on October 1, at about 7am, the victim’s parents left her and two of her siblings in the house for the farm.
Chief Insp Anaman said the victim informed her father when they returned that Mohammed came to the house and asked for water.
The victim alleged the accused after drinking the water lured her to a nearby cocoa farm and sexually assaulted her, after which he offered her 50 pesewas.
The court heard that the victim’s parents searched for the accused but could not find him.
Chief Insp Anaman said the father of the girl reported the case to the Wasa Akropong Police and a medical form was issued to the victim to seek medical attention.
The prosecutor stated that on October 3, while the victim and her father were in Wasa Asikuma town, the girl identified Mohammed as the one who sexually assaulted her.
She said the father held the accused and sent him to the police station.
The case has been adjourned to November 14. – GNA
