A farmer allegedly killed his one-and-half- year- old son, neighbour and committed suicide, at Dunya Nkwanta, near Kunsu in Mankranso, in Ashanti Region.

The suspect, Yaw Konkonba, was said to have chased his wife, Abena Denya, in an attempt to kill her without any provocation, but she escaped to a neighbour’s cottage.

The neighbour, Yaw Peter, was said to have cooled down the tempers of Konkonba.

Konkonba returned to his neighbour’s cottage and killed Peter, in the presence of Peter’s wife, Abena Anane, and the wife of Konkonba.

Konkonba on his way to his cottage, met his son, and he slashed his throat, killing the boy instantly.

Madam Denya told the Ghanaian Times that she and the husband attended church service in Kumasi, adding that they had married for 17 years, and the husband had never threatened her life.

Madam Denya said on the day of the incident, the husband went to the cottage of Peter and collected his ewe, which he slaughtered.

She said after slaughtering the animal, she questioned him, but the husband told her “I am coming to do the same to you.”

Madam Denya said sensing danger she took her son and took to her heels, and the husband chased them.

She said the boy fell off, but out of fear, she could not save the boy, and she fled to Peter’s cottage.

Madam Denya said the husband went to the cottage and murdered Peter with a cutlass, adding, “Peter fell on a tree and my husband continued to inflict cutlass wounds on him till he died instantly”.

She said Konkonba went to his cottage and on the way met the son, killed him and committed suicide.

A police source at Mankranso confirmed the incident, and Madam Denya had been invited for interrogation.
