Farmer arrested for murder

A 48year old farmer who killed a fellow community member at Amoakrom, a village in the Wenchi Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region has been arrested by the police.

According to the Wenchi Police Sombor Naah Nimboyala, the suspect during interrogation claimed he took the action to avenge the death of his deceased brother who he alleged was slashed to death by the victim for stealing his cockerel.

Meanwhile, the Police have disputed the suspect’s claim indicating that he could not provide evidence to back his claims of the murder of his brother by the victim.

The Brong Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer ASP Christopher Tawiah briefing The Ghanaian Times said the incident happened on Tuesday and that the suspect inflicted multiple cutlass wounds on Kwabena Anthony, the victim until he died.

ASP Tawiah said after committing the crime Sombor Naah attempted to flee, but was apprehended at Buoko by the community members and handed over to the Police.

According to ASP Tawiah the suspect was currently being held by the Wenchi Divisional Police Command to assist in investigations while the dead body had been deposited at the Wenchi Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy.
