A disaster occurred at Twedie Dadeaso Aba along the Tepa-Goaso road in the Brong-Ahafo Region, yesterday when nine out of 10 family members on board a tricycle perished in a gory accident.
Information gathered by The Ghanaian Times indicated that the tricycle crashed into a tipper-truck loaded with sand.
The accident occurred when the tipper-truck driven by Kwadwo Donkor, tried to negotiate a curve and veered into the lane of a tricycle driven by their father Alex Osei Bonsu, 65.
According to eye-witnesses, Mr. Bonsu was conveying his wife and children, from school to Tepa, when the incident occurred.
The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, confirmed the story to The Ghanaian Times.
He said the third child, identified as Alex Osei, jumped out of the tricycle upon sensing danger, before the accident occurred.
He said seven of them died on the spot, while two others died on admission at the Goaso Government Hospital.
The bodies have been deposited at the mortuary at the same hospital.
