A 24-year old man has been arrested for posing as military personnel and harassing people in and around the Lawra township, in the Lawra District of the Upper West Region.
Mark Kabir was arrested after he was confronted by two policemen who sighted him dressed in a military camouflage and T-shirt roaming around town.
Briefing The Ghanaian Times here yesterday, the regional police crime officer, Superintendent Hussein Awunaba, said at 1:30 pm on August 17, this year, the police in Lawra saw someone wearing a military uniform.
Two policemen were detailed to find out from him if he was a military personnel upon which he answered in the affirmative.
Sup. Awunaba said Kabir failed to produce an identity card when the policemen requested for it.
As a result, the two officers led him to his room where a military hiver sack and other materials was found and retrieved.
Kabir confessed to the policemen that he was not a military officer, and that the uniform and other materials belonged to a retired military officer at Tema, whom he worked for as a house boy.
