An ex-convict who allegedly broke into a house at Shalom Estates, near Pantang in Accra, and made away with valuables has been arrested by the police.
Isaac Okley Korley, 32, was reported to have entered the house in the absence of the residents and stole a 32-inch Samsung television set, mobile phones and a video deck.
Korley, was said to have stolen similar items last year and was sentenced to six months imprisonment.
He was also reported to have been bonded to be of good behaviour by the Madina Magistrates Court for stealing, four months earlier.
The Adentan District Police Commander, Superintendent Felix Apedo, told The Ghanaian Times that on June 30, at about 12:30 p.m., the suspect was spotted by a neighbour (name withheld) at Shalom Estates breaking into the house.
He said the neighbour, who became suspicious, alerted some other residents who arrested the suspect in the act, and assaulted him before handing him over to the police.
He said the police had so far retrieved the items which would be used as exhibits in court during his prosecution.
