The Ewe community in Opei-Kuma Kumbe in the Awutu Senya District of the Central Region, on Sunday, enstooled a businessman, Mr. Peter Kwaku Amuzuvi, as the Ewe community chief at a grand durbar.
He was enstooled by the representative of the Chief of Gomoa Fetteh, Nana Agyei Bobo II with the stool name Nana Amedzro I.
Nana Bobo II said the Ewe people had lived in the community for sometime now, and it was prudent for them to have a leader, who would be a mediator between them and the Chief of Gomoa Fetteh.
He said there was no difference between the Ewe people and the indigenes of the land who had co-existed for a number of years and asked Nana Amedzro I to be submissive to the people and not to lord himself over them.
“You are not knowledgeable, wiser or more educated than your subjects, it is an opportunity given you to serve your people and you must do that with diligence and respect,” he said.
Nana Bobo II urged the people to live exemplary lives and exhibit the spirit of brotherliness that they were noted for.
The chief of the Ewe community in Kasoa and its environs, Togbui Amexoxo I, advised the people to obey the rules and regulations of the community.
He said the aim of installing the new chief was to unite Ewes living in the district for development and disclosed that plans were advanced to open an Ewe community bank.
Nana Amedzro I pledged to lead his people with respect and diligence and asked them to shun negative vices and help him bring development to the community.
