ERCC Co-Ordinator Found Dead At Residence

Abdullai ZakariThe Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Director, Abdullai Zakari, 55, was yesterday morning found dead at his residence.

The body has been deposited at the mortuary of the Koforidua Central Hospital for autopsy.

His wife and children were in Kumasi at the time of his death.

Confirming the incident to The Ghanaian Times, the Public Relations Officer for the Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Council (ERCC), Prosper Tsormana, said Mr. Zakari was expected at work yesterday but did not show up.

He said the caretaker at the resident, not seeing him in the residence that morning went into the bedroom to wake him up but found him dead.

He therefore informed officials of the ERCC who had also been expecting him in the office and who then rushed to the residence.

Mr. Tsormana added that Mr. Zakari was not known to be sick, adding “His death came as a surprise to us”.

A source from the Eastern Regional Police Command who spoke to the Times also confirmed the incident, and said the police received the news after 9am and rushed to the scene and conveyed the body to the mortuary.

The source said investigations were underway.
