ER Educ. Directorate To Sack Lazy Teachers

Mr Antwi-Boasiako SekyereThe Eastern Regional Director of Education, Rosetta Addison Sackey, has charged teachers in the region to perform creditably, warning that lazy teachers would be punished.

She warned them against insolence, saying the education directorate would not hesitate to transfer non-performing and disrespectful teachers from the region.

According to her, the region was already overstaffed with teachers, adding that her office was ready to reduce the number by “offloading” those lazy ones.

Mrs. Sackey gave this warning when she visited some schools in the East Akyem district, Atiwa District and Kwahu West municipality, to welcome school children back to school as part of the national “My First Day At School’ celebration.

The schools she visited included Ossiem Islamic Basic School, Ossiem Methodist School, Bonsu MA Primary and Kindergarten, Asamang –Tamfoe DA United Primary, Anyiman Presby Primary, Apesika MA Primary and Abetensu MA Primary.

She warned the teachers to eschew practices that would discourage the children from remaining in school, and urged them to adopt teaching methods that would create a condusive environment for effective learning.

Mrs. Sackey announced that her outfit was enhancing its monitoring operations to ensure that basic school teachers were performing as expected, adding that she would also undertake surprise visits to the schools to check teachers herself.

Mr. Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere, Eastern Regional Minister, who led the delegation to the schools, advised parents to prioritise education and invest more in the education of their wards.

During the visit, the team distributed school uniforms and gifts including learning kits and confectionery, to the children.
