VIASAT 1 has announced that it will from tomorrow broadcast live this season’s English Premier League(EPL) matches after it was granted a sub-licence to air the upcoming season matches.
During the launch of their EPL broadcast show in Accra on Wednesday, the station announced that it will broadcast tomorrow’s match between Everton and Tottenham Hotspur at 3pm to set the ball rolling for other exciting matches for the rest of the season.
According to Mr. Anthony Mintah Jr., Programmes Manager at Viasat 1, the station would also telecast highlights show on Mondays at 4pm which would capture all matches played during the week and also air a pre-match analysis of upcoming games at the same time on Fridays.
He added that “as we are delivering our best in content through drama series, telenovelas, and other female-skewed programmes, we are giving the football lovers something to crave every weekend, and we believe this move will give us a competitive advantage.”
He noted that,the EPL is the world’s most popular domestic football competition with huge viewership in Ghana and pleased to bring the game to the doorsteps of local audience.
With the likes of Andre Dede Ayew and Albert Adomah in the EPL, he said, it is certain that Ghanaians would be looking forward to watching them live, which Viasat 1, will make possible.
He encouraged football fanatics to tune in to the station, adding that “it is the only channel that will air the most prestigious football league in the world for free in Ghana, and with the best analysis”.
The launch was graced by distinguished sportsmen including coaches and former players who expressed delight with the initiative and are looking forward to an exciting EPL season with Viasat 1.
