The Head of the Tema Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Mr. Ebenezer Fiahagbe, 48, was on Monday dawn shot and killed by unknown gunmen at his residence at Tema Community 25.
Preliminary investigations conducted by the police indicated that they took nothing from his house where he lived with his wife, two children and a house help.
Briefing the media, the Public Relations Officer of the Tema Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Juliana Obeng, disclosed that at about 2:30 a.m., the police patrol team around Dawhenya had information that there was a robbery attack at a house in Tema Community 25.
She said when the team arrived there, the armed robbers had absconded and there was a body of a male lying in a vehicle about to be conveyed to the hospital.
ASP Obeng revealed the Fiahagbe was shot in the left side of his chest in an attack that allegedly involved three armed men wielding AK47 assault rifle.
She said the suspects broke into the house with the help of a car jack, which they used to open one of the windows to have access to his room.
The body has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue in Accra.
The Tema Regional Police Command has appealed to residents of Tema Community 25 and the entire public to assist the police with information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
