Owusu who was charged with defilement, has pleaded not guilty and was remanded into lawful custody by the court, presided by Mrs. Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, until October 2.
Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbire said Owusu lived in the same vicinity with victim’s family at Nungua.
Inspector Atimbire said on the night of September 3, the accused found the child loitering at Nungua Authority Area and lured her into his room and defiled her.
A witness alerted the family and when the child was questioned, she narrated her ordeal to her father.
Prosecution said the father reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service, and a medical form was issued to him to send the victim to the hospital to seek medical attention.
