Ekow Micah’s ‘wee’ case adjourned

A Presiding Judge of an Accra circuit court, Aboagye Tandoh has given the prosecution in the case involving ace musician, Ekow Micah, who was arrested for possessing dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, final adjournment for them to commence trial.

The judge, who was unhappy with the excuses given by the prosecution any time the case was called said, it was either when they were “ready to commence trial or to come when you had feverishly prepared”.

Consequently, he adjourned the case to today, saying that he would put the investigator himself in the witness box, in case the same excuse was given by the prosecution.

This remark followed, a submission by the prosecutor Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Moses Atibillah, that the witnesses in the case, who were the police officers, who made the arrest, were absent.

The judge who was not happy about the trend, said that he would take a decision on the case, should the same thing happen today.

According to Moses Atibillah, the investigator in the case informed him earlier that the police officers would be present, however, when he approached him once again, he was told they were on assignment in the Northern Region.

In this regard, he prayed the court to adjourn the case to today, to allow the witnesses have their day in court.

The judge, not pleased with his excuse, adjourned the case to today.

Ekow Micah, the “Me siwohemaa” hit maker who wore a black long sleeves shirt on a pair of jeans trousers to match, with his dreadlocks on, was accompanied by his lawyer, John Dave Percy.

He said on August 4, this year, Micah was arrested by the Airport Police over an alleged extortion case currently under investigations.

ACP Atibillah said, on the following day, at about 11:30 a.m., the police led the accused person to his house to conduct a search and in the process, a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was found concealed in Micah’s room.

He said, Micah told the police that he smoked the stuff to stimulate himself in his music carrier.

The prosecution said the exhibit would be forwarded to the Police Forensic Crime Laboratory for examination.

Ekow Micah was arrested for allegedly trying to extort money from Asamoah Gyan’s camp in order not to release the Black Stars captain’s alleged sex tape with one Sarah Kwablah.
