Ejura Sekyedumase MP honoured for promoting education

The Concerned Youth of Ejura (CYE), a graduate youth organisation, has honoured Alhaji Braimah Muhammad Bawah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejura Sekyedumase Constituency in the Ashanti Region for helping to improve the standard of education in the area.

“You have been using your high office to sponsor our activities, encourage our pupils to learn and uplift the educational standard in the area,” a citation presented to the MP said.

Alhaji Bawah had served as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejura Sekyedumase between 2013 and January 2017, and had been collaborating with the CYE to organise holiday classes for pupils and students in the municipality.

The CYE had been organising classes in English Language, Science, Mathematics, and Information Communication Technology for the students and pupils in the area.

Alhaji Bawah told the Ghanaian Times he was humbled to have been honoured by the CYE saying that it would motivate him to do more for the constituency.

He said he had procured 500 dual desks and 20,000 exercise books for schools in the constituency, and had also been organising Mock Exams for junior high school candidates and extra classes for students in senior high school.

Alhaji told the Ghanaian Times in an interview that he was funding the construction of a three-unit classroom block for the Somdania Islamic School, from his share of the District Assemblies Common Fund.

As the MCE (2013- Jan 2017), Alhaji Bawah had prioritised education delivery in the assembly’s medium term development plan, resulting in the improvement in educational infrastructure in the municipality.
