The management of Effutu Municipal Government Hospital last week-end organised a two-hour health walk for staff and nurses at the facility.
Some interested people from the town including the Member of Parliament for the Area, Mr Afenyo Markin, also participated.
Dr George Prah, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, briefing newsmen after the walk, said the exercise was aimed at creating awareness to the public on the importance of exercising.
He explained that regular exercise of the body helps to prevent vascular disease.
The walk under the theme “Walk for Health”, commenced form the premises of the hospital in Winneba, amidst brass band music, through some principal streets of the town and ended at the North Campus of the University of Education, Winneba.
It was sponsored by Mega Life Service Pharmaceutical Company in Accra.
Some of the participants were later screened of hypertension and given free medication after being given health talks.
Dr Killian Boampong Konam, event co-coordinator of the hospital, urged people in the area to join the fight against vascular diseases.
