EDAIF Board Inaugurated To Promote Small Businesses

EDAIF BOARDhe Ministry of Trade and Industry has inaugurated an 11- member board for the Export Development and Agricultural Investment Fund (EDAIF) to facilitate productivity in small scale businesses, especially in agriculture.

The board has Professor Richard Bani as Chairman, with Mr. Alexander Ackuaku, Mr. Robert Barhwola Tindana, Dr. Abdul Nashiru Issahaku and Dr. Barfour Osei as members.

The other members include Mrs. Marjorie Abdin, Dr. Kwame A. Amezah, Mr. Johanna Awotwi, Mr. Gerald Nyarko Mensah, Mr. Komlan Messaw and Mr. Gideon Quarcoo.

Inaugurating the board in Accra, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Haruna.

Iddrissu, advised the board not to be influenced by political partisanship but rather partner with stakeholders for the proper disbursement of funds.

He urged members to work assiduously in providing support to state institutions adopt strategies to promote small scale businesses such as poultry farming in the country.

He asked the board primarily focus on the vision of the EDAIF which aimed at seeking an increase in the volume of exports country as well as provide the needed support of development fund in the agricultural sector.

Mr. Haruna Iddrissu encouraged shea-nut production in the rural areas to raise incomes to support livelihoods.

The Board Chairman, Professor Richard Bani, expressed gratitude to the government for in him and his colleagues and assured of their commitment to grow the fund.

Prof. Bani emphasized on team work and said the board would in all situations cooperate with the ministry in achieving a common purpose. By Charles Amankwa and Agnes Arthur
