Ecobank Ghana has intensified its effort at making bank transaction easy and convenient for customers by embarking on a digital channel project in Accra.

The project which involves educating the public about the bank’s digital offerings started on Friday at the Osu Oxford Street.

Scores of staff of the bank encouraged Ghanaians to adopt the bank’s mobile banking app and other digital platforms for more convenience.
Speaking to the media before the commencement of the campaign Ecobank Group Head for Direct Banking, Naana Araba Abban,the bank had outstanding digital banking products that gives convenience for customers.

“It creates the opportunity for the unbaked o experience reliable banking services and products. We have an app that makes banking very convenient,” she said.

The bank was not only targeting only customers in the formal sector but the informal sectors are well catered for in the bank’s suits of digital payment solutions.

She said across the 33 African countries where Ecobank operates, there were at least one million users of the App, out of which Ecobank Ghana alone has over 200,000 users.

“Ghana is indeed in the lead in terms of uptake of this App and this sits well with the government’s cash-light agenda

Mr Tara Squire ‎Head, Consumer Banking at Ecobank (Anglophone West Africa) said the bank’s  App allows users to open an Express Bank Account  with limited Know Your Customer (KYC)  without visiting the bank.

The  Express Account he explained could be created in less than five minutes and it also attracts interest for the owner.

“ The App also comes with a touch and pay feature that enables even simple table top traders like roasted plantain sellers to receive electronic payment with either Visa or MasterCard just by having the App on their phone,” he said.

“You can link any Visa or MasterCard issued by any bank to the Ecobank Mobile App and use it for transactions even if you don’t have an Ecobank account,” he said.
