Mr Nkansah – Justifies boycott

CHAIRMAN of Die Hard Supporters Union,Abraham Nkansah said the President of the Ghana Football Association(GFA),Kwesi Nyantekyi’s decision not to watch Accra Hearts of Oak’s games again is justified.

Mr. Nkansah popularly known as Apirigu Tsakapama stated that the attack on the GFA boss was uncalled for and it is just right for him to decide to boycott games involving Hearts.

“It is true that we love football but our lives are more important and no one will wish to put his life on the line because of football,”he stated.

He added that Mr. Nyantekyi was lucky to have escaped the attack but might not be certain of getting away should he be attacked again.

“This is a very important person as far as football in and outside this country is concerned and he needs to protect himself against such attacks,”he stressed.

The GFA capo he said should be concerned about his life and it is only normal for him to be afraid as his safety is not guaranteed.

“Nobody can imagine what would have happened if people were not around to shield him to his car,”Apirigu stated further.

He added that the GFA President might later resend his decision but for now,his stance is justified as nobody deserves to be treated that way.

“Nyantekyi’s achievement in football in this country is enormous and he should be protected as he has more to offer the country,”he stressed.

He added Nyantekyi was almost disgraced by Hearts supporters and his decision must be respected by all as respect must be given to authority.

President Nyantekyi was attacked by some supporters of Hearts after last sunday’s Caf Confederations Cup encounter against Djoliba where Hearts lost by a lone goal.

The issue has since been reported to the police for investigations and the GFA boss subsequently announced that he might not watch games involving Hearts again to avoid another attack.
