A driver’s mate has been arrested by the police for allegedly robbing a trader of his personal belongings, at Nsawam in the Eastern Region.

George Kwabla Masale, together with three others, currently on the run,  were said to have attacked their victim, Pascal Kpomegah, at the Nsawam railways area, with a cutlass.

The Nsawam District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Micheal Dandy Zah, confirmed the story to The Ghanaian Times here yesterday.

He said at about 10 pm, on August 27, when the victim arrived from Kade in the Eastern Region to Nsawam, the suspect and his accomplices attacked him and robbed him of GH¢200, a mobile phone and dresses in his bag.

“The victim struggled with the suspect, and sustained a deep cut in his palm, which made him bleed profusely.” The police commander added.

DSP Zah said Kpomegah reported the case to the police and the following day, the victim spotted the suspect at Nsawam and caused his arrest.

He said the suspect is currently in the custody of the police assisting in investigations adding that he would be charged with robbery and causing harm.
