The Accra Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Effia Tenge told The Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday, that on July 27, last year, the contractor (name withheld), a resident of Ashalley Botwe, parked his Nissan UD truck with registration number GE 5674-14, at Madina Telecom, near Atomic Junction, but on his return the following day, the vehicle had been stolen.
ASP Tenge said a report was later made to the Madina Police.
On October 18, this year, the complainant travelled to Agona Nkwanta for a project and whiles driving in town, he spotted the truck at a mechanic’s shop and informed the police.
When the police got there, the suspect claimed ownership of the truck and was arrested and the truck impounded by the police.
The case was later handed over to the Madina Police and during interrogations, he told the police that his brother Uncle Joe, bought the truck for him but he had since failed to lead the police to the brother.
She said investigations were ongoing.
