Driver convicted for stealing diesel

A driver, Samuel Bobie, has been sentenced to a fine of GHC360.00 by the Kade District Court presided by Ms. Felicia AnaneAntwi, for stealing diesel.

Bobie would in default go to prison for three months in hard labour.

Detective Inspector Isaac Owusu Achiaw, prosecuting, said Bobie stole the diesel by siphoning it from a DAF truck owned by Ransford Wiafe, a businessman.

Prosecution said when the complainant detected the siphoning of diesel from his truck, he asked two of his workers to keep watch on the vehicle.

Insp Achiaw said the workers persistently hid in an uncompleted building close to where the vehicle was packed

He said on June 16, at about 2am, Bobie siphoned diesel from the vehicle into and Jerry-cans and headed towards home.

Insp Achiaw said the workers came out of their hide out, and when Bobie saw them, he abandoned the booty and took to his heels, but the workers arrested him, and handed him over to the police. Bobie admitted the offence and was taken to court. –  GNA
