Dogboe ready for Navarrete

Paul Dogboe, father and trainer of Isaac ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe, the former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) super bantamweight world champion believes his ward is ready to reclaim the title from Emanuel Navarrete.

According to him, the camp was faced with several internal problems, which were overlooked before the first fight and that culminated in the defeat.

But he was quick to add that the situation has improved, assuring that Ghanaians will see a fully fit Dogboe mounting the ring to reclaim his title.

According to Paul, Isaac shuttled in and out of hospital in the build-up to the fight because he suffered from allergies and was not in good condition for the bout.

“We had challenges with not just fitness but weight. He left Ghana weighing like a welterweight so during the last moments, we were forced to used solar Jacuzzis and other regimen, all in a bid to shed the extra weight.”

“That aside, we had few encounters with injuries especially with the knuckle but such challenges are not in our hands. We tried to overcome all that with our strategy but every plan you put in place must be backed by stamina so when the boxer is not fit on the day, nothing will go right for you.”

As a result, Paul disclosed at Saturday’s media encounter that the tedious training regimen has changed to ensure the boxer remains fit and strong for the very important bout they have christened the ‘Moment of redemption’.

“Winning your fights regularly and in such fashions can also go into your head sometimes. We have learnt out lessons the hard way and I am confident of a strong comeback to reclaim the title. The title is ours,” Paul indicated.
