District Assembly elections comes off March 3, 2015

AMADU-SULLEYThe Electoral Commission (EC) has fixed March 3, 2015 for the District Assembly and Unit Committee Elections throughout the country.

Consequently, nominations for the District Assembly elections are scheduled for December 20 and December 21, 2014.

A statement signed by Mr. Amadu Sulley, Deputy Chairman of Operations, EC, said nomination forms for the Unit Committee elections would be taken on December 22 and 23, 2014, from 8:am to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

It said nomination forms could be obtained at the District Offices of the EC or from the Deputy Returning Officers (Special Duties) in the respective electoral areas.

The statement said all duly completed nomination forms must be submitted to the Deputy Returning Officers (Special Duties) on the dates set for nominations.

“A person can contest either the District Level Election or the Unit Committee Election but not both elections and prospective candidates are to note that no fee shall be paid for obtaining the forms or for filing to contest the elections,” it stated.

“Prospective candidates are to submit four copies of a recent photograph of bust size with red background showing the full face and both ears,” it added.

The statement said the March 3, 2015, elections would not cover electoral areas in the Lower Manya Krobo District, adding that “all interested and qualified persons who want to contest any of the elections are to take note and act accordingly”.
