ALGERIA assistant coach Nabil Neghiz has said the Desert Foxes put up a spirited performance to defeat Senegal 2-0 in Malabo in their group game on Tuesday.

The Desert Foxes scored a goal in each half through Riyad Mahrez and Nabil Bentaleb to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations. Looking back at the win over Senegal, Neghiz revealed how their pre-match talk helped the team to overcome the West Africans.

“It was our day because we played very well. We faced a very tough team, but we studied them very well so we treated the well too,” Neghiz said.

“We talked with our players to play our way, which is usually fast passes and then play the ball in behind their defence.

“We will prepare well for the quarterfinal match and hope we can win the next game and reach the final to win the title.”
