Dede Ayew For Surgery

Andre-Ayew-InterviewAndre Ayew is facing eight weeks on the sidelines after injuring his knee while in action for the Black Stars on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old came off after 55 minutes in the 2-1 loss to Egypt in the second-leg of the World Cup playoffs on Tuesday night.

Ghana however clinched qualification to their third straight finals on a 7-3 aggregate scoreline haven smashed the Pharaohs 6-1 in the first leg.

The game however ended with Ayew in reeling pain following his injury.

The forward now requires surgery after further examination on his return to Olympique Marseille confirms he has suffered a meniscal tear in his left knee.

Ayew is now being prepared to have the operation on Monday after which his is estimated to be out for eight weeks.

He would be expected back in full action by the ending of January – after the winter break in the French Ligue 1.

This also means Ayew will be fit to play for Ghana at the 2014 World Cup as he will recover five months ahead of the tournament in Brazil.
