Darkuman Central Credit Union Makes Progress

mr bribiThe Darkuman Central Credit Union in Accra made a profit of GH¢171,003.40 as at June 30, 2013, Elder John Ackom Asante, Vice-Chairman of the board has disclosed.

Speaking at the fifth Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Darkuman Central Chapel of the Church of Pentecost in Accra, Elder Asante said the union had a net surplus of GH¢20,232.29 and paid a dividend of 12 per cent on every member’s contribution across board.

Touching on the theme for the 10th anniversary: “Your Life And The Credit Union: Past, Present And Future” adopted from the mother union’s 18th Biennial Conference, Elder Seth Owusu Kwarteng, Chairman of the board, said many people have found credit union to be one of their answers to wealth creation, and assured the shareholders that, they will continue to receive loans at fair and competitive rates.

He thanked Mr. Emmanuel Oduro Darko, the General Manager of the Credit Union Association of Ghana (CUA), Apostle Samuel Badu Nyarko, Dunkwa Area Head of the Church of Pentecost and the first board of directors of the Credit Union for laying a solid foundation for the union.

Mr. Emmanuel Oduro Darko, the General Manager of CUA who was the guest speaker said poverty or wealth was a matter of choice.

He stated that wealth could be created if expenditure on funerals, impulse buying, beauty products, alcohol, smoking and the misuse of mobile phones and other unnecessary spending was minimised, saying the only way to create wealth was to work hard and cultivate a savings culture.

Apostle Daniel Kwame Noble-Atsu (rtd), former Tema Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, who chaired the AGM lauded the establishment of the credit union and appealed to others to join for them to receive assistance in their time of need.
