Coach Evans Adjei – confident

Mr Evans Adjei, head coach of Danbort FC has expressed optimism ahead of their clash with Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday in the FA Cup quarterfinal game at the Accra Sports Stadium.

According to the extremely confident coach, Danbort is ready for the game against the Phobians in what he described as a ‘David and Goliath’ affair which they hope to cause an upset.

He told the Times Sports on Saturday after guiding Danbort to a lone goal victory over Okwahu United in their Division One League match at the Nungua Town Park.

“Danbort has no reason to be scared because we know what we can bring to the table. There is no doubt about the fact that Hearts is a strong side and teams give up even before the referee’s whistle but Danbort won’t do that.”

“We see the clash as an opportunity to come to the limelight. They will play with 11 players just like us but we feel even more motivated because if we are able to beat them, we will become the subject of discussion everywhere and that is exactly what we want to achieve,” Coach Adjei said.

Having been campaigning in the Division One League for a while now, Danbort FC have gathered some amount of experience Coach Adjei believes gives them a fair idea of what to expect at the big venue and against a big side like the Phobians.

His confidence also stems from the uncertain nature of the FA Cup competition where smaller clubs have often posed problems for the more established sides, insisting that tradition would be sustained when they play Hearts.

“This is a clear case of the ‘David and Goliath’ story. We are ‘David’ in this instance and at the end of 90 minutes Hearts must fall like ‘Goliath’ did. This is what Danbort wants to achieve to advance to the next stage of the competition.”

In other venues, Wa All Stars, having failed to defend the Ghana Premier League trophy would hope to make amends with the FA Cup but would have to dismiss the bluff of Berekum Chelsea when they meet at the Wa Park.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko would be expected to return to action at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium with a comfortable match against Nea Salamina with Medeama SC hosting Division One League (DOL) side, Amidaus Professionals at Tarkwa.
