The fourth edition of the Cowbell Open Invitational Cycle Challenge powered by Velocity Cycling Club is scheduled for Sunday August 28, 2016 in Accra.
The event forms part of Velocity’s effort to promote cycling in the country by creating the platform to talented cyclists to exhibit their skills.
According to the Coordinator at Velocity, Kwamena Larbi, the event would be an individual or team race which would cover a total distance of 109km starting from Adenta to Dodowa through to Somanya and Adukrom; climb the Larteh and Ayikumah mountains and head back to Larteh and ride down to Dodowa and to the finish line at Adenta.
He announced that the top ten positions will receive cash prizes, adding that registration is open from August 22 till the morning of race day.
“There is no entry fee and all competitors must register by sending their full names, date of birth, nationality and club affiliation (if any) to 0553476344,”he noted.
On the race day, he said all riders will converge at the Legon Botanical Garden from 6.30am to complete registration formalities.
That would be followed by a race briefing before departure from Legon Gardens to the starting point, Adenta Police station, at 8am.
According to the Marketing Manager of Promasidor Ghana Limited, producers of Cowbell, Timo Van Vooren, the event is a fantastic opportunity for all cyclists in Ghana to look forward to and would also serve as a precursor to the Cowbell three stage races to be held in the Ashanti Region next month.
The Cowbell brand, he added, is delighted to support Velocity Cycling Club on this initiative and looks forward to many more in future.
