Curfew Renewed In Alavanyo And Three Other Towns

The Minister for the Interior has on the advice of the Northern and Volta Regional Security Councils, and by an Executive Instrument renewed the curfew imposed on Alavanyo, Nkonya, Nakpanduri and Bimbilla Townships.

The curfew hours for Alavanyo and Nkonya remain from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., that of Bimbilla remain from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., and that of Nakpanduri remains from 7 p.m. to 5:pm.

The curfew on Alavanyo, Nkonya and Bimbilla townships take effect from Friday July, 25, 2014 while that of Nakpanduri takes effect from Monday July 28, 2014, according to a statement issued and signed by Mr James Agalga, Deputy Minister for the Interior.

It urged chiefs and other opinion leaders, the youth and residents of the areas affected to exercise restraint, in the face of the challenges confronting them, and to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace.

The statement said a total ban has been imposed on all persons in the various townships and environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons, and any person found with any arm or ammunition would be arrested and prosecuted.
