Thomas Ennin, a 23-year old man, who posed as a military officer at Sefwi Akaatiso in the Bia West district  of the Western Region, was on Monday sentenced to  two  years imprisonment in hard labour, by the Sefwi Debiso Magistrates Court.

Ennin, was  said to have paraded the Akaatiso town and was arrested on Saturday and handed  over to the  police.

He was charged for impersonation and possessing military accoutrement.

He pleaded  guilty and the court, presided  over by Mr. Lawrence Buer, sentenced him to a fine  of GH¢6,000.

But, he could not  pay the fine, and the court slapped the two- year jail term on him.

The court was informed that on Saturday, February 15, Ennin, who claimed to be a private security  officer with a firm (name withheld ) in Accra, was seen  at Sefwi Akaatiso, a border town between Ghana and Cote d’ Ivoire, dressed  in a military camouflage uniform with berets, boots and   a jackknife, hanging by the waist.

Ennin paraded in the town as an  officer from  Burma Camp, who had been sent to the area to check criminal activities  including the smuggling of fuel.

Prosecution said a report was made to the Military Command and Ennin was arrested.  From: Clement Adzei Boye,
