Counsel: Justice Was Not Served

EGBERT FAIBILLE JROne of the lawyers for the petitioners in the just ended election petition case, Egbert Faibille Jnr., has expressed dissatisfaction with the judgment delivered by the Supreme Court last Thursday stating that justice was not served by the nine-member panel.

Speaking on Citi FM’s news analysis program, The Big Issue Mr. Faibile said: “I believe sincerely that justice has not served. Not because of where I am coming from, but I believe that we are lulling ourselves into a false sense of security.

He explained that the verdict, which was delivered on Thursday, does not support calls for reforms in the country’s electoral process.

According to him, the judgment will affect the country in the future in the event of a similar situation.
Mr. Egbert Faibille also lamented the delay in releasing the full judgment of the justices by the Supreme Court registry saying, “I think that this country, more than ever, has to have a certain understanding of where we have come from and where we have to go to.”
