A policeman and a driver were allegedly on Tuesday evening, shot by the president of the Ghallywood Academy of Film Acting in Dawa, William Nana Awuku Akuffo, and his girlfriend, Renne Tetteh, over a misunder-standing on wrongful parking.
Akuffo has been arrested by the Ada District Police Command, while Renne is currently at large and believed to be hiding near Sogakope.
Constable Felix Nettey who was shot in the thigh, and Fuji Joe, the driver, shot in the ribs, are both receiving treatment at the Battor Catholic Hospital.
Confirming the incident to The Ghanaian Times, the Ada District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Dodzi Godact Hlodzi, said at about 5 pm on Tuesday, Akuffo and Renne who were driving a Hummer vehicle with registration number VIVO 1-11 wrongfully parked at the Sege Junction and when other drivers complained, they got offended and that resulted in a misunderstanding.
Constable Nettey, who was then on guard duty at the Sege Rural Bank, was called in by motorists to maintain order, but Akuffo allegedly pulled a pistol, threatened those around, then gave it to Renne who shot the policeman in the thigh and Fuji in the ribs and drove off.
Chief Superintendent Hlodzi said the suspects were pursued to the Ghallywood Film Academy where Akuffo was arrested. Upon interrogation, Akuffo claimed he did not know Renne or her whereabouts, because he picked her up at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
The Ada Police Commander said however, that when Akuffo’s room was forced open, they saw a lady who identified herself as Renne’s sister. Consequently, the police arrested both Akufo and the woman, Eva Tetteh, and detained them at the Tema Regional Police Headquarters.
He appealed to the public to help trace Renne.
