A 32-year-old trader, Issah Alhassan, has been arrested for allegedly stealing two mobile phones and GH¢500 from a lady at Tudu in Accra, who had arrived from Kumasi.

Alhassan approached Rose Adu Twumwaa and told her she was being hunted by an evil spirit and that she needed to cleanse herself.

DSP Sekyere said Alhassan asked her to bring GH¢10 for the cleansing but when Rose said she did not have money, he asked her to bring a coin out and place it behind her palm and spit on it, which she obliged.

The Crime Officer said the con-man asked her for her bag to use it to clean the palm, and took out the money and phones on her blind side.

He then asked her to leave as she had been exorcised, but an eyewitness alerted Rose that he had stolen the items from the bag.

Unfortunately, it was too late, as Alhassan had left the scene.

The Crime Officer said Alhassan was arrested the following day at the same spot and handed over to the police.
