The Communication Board of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), has commended the media and the Electoral Commission (EC) for their spectacular performance in the just-ended 2016 general elections.
A statement signed by Mr. G.B.K Owusu, Chairman of the PCG Communication Board, copied The Ghanaian Times, said the good performance of journalists was not only remarkable but commendable.
“Despite some reportage gaffes, the media displayed savvy, competence, objectivity and truth. I, therefore, urge all media practitioners to continue the good work and live above reproach in all their work.”
The statement also said as Ghanaians enter the New Year under the presidency of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party, “we all must endeavour to open a new page in our lives and strive to embrace tolerance, reconciliation, patience and love.”
It urged journalists and politicians to collaborate efforts towards nation building.
The statement commended President John Mahama, presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for conceding defeat, and urged him and his party to cooperate with Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to move the country forward.
It commended chairperson of the EC, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, and her staff for conducting a free and fair elections.
The statement said: “we continue to pray that the almighty God will continue to direct, guide and guard the EC chairperson in all her undertakings. Be bold and always seek God’s guidance and He will never fail you.”
