Commonwealth observer team calls on Nana

Former President of South Africa and leader of the Commonwealth Observer Mission, Mr. Thabo Mbeki, has paid a courtesy call on the president-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) beat the incumbent President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and five other candidates in the December 7, 2016 general elections and got 53.85 per cent of total votes cast to win the presidential polls.

International and corporate bodies, political opponents, religious bodies and individuals have sent their congratulatory messages to the president-elect.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will become the fifth president under the Fourth Republic when he is sworn into office on January 7, 2017.
