REIGNING Commonwealth champion, Richard Commey has been named to fight in an IBF Final Eliminator in the US A.

Commey, who is highly regarded in his division, is yet to know his opponent but he is currently gearing up for the upcoming fight which is likely to takeplace in the US.

According to the General Secretary of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Peter Johnson his outfit received the confirmation and they are yet to disclose it to Commey who is currently training in the UK.

“The GBA got a letter and we are yet to even communicate to Richard Commey who you and I know is not in the country”.

“The IBF Final Eliminator is one of the bouts that is huge on the boxing calendar and for a Ghanaian to be named in the Final Elimination is good for the sport”.

Meanwhile, Commey has intensified his preparations for a world title by sparring with former British Commonwealth title holder Kevin Mitchell.

Commey who is currently training with his trainer Carl Lokko in the United Kingdom will for the next one month spur with the former Super featherweight Champion.

The plush PRO SW Gym is the venue where Richard ‘Azonto’ Commey spurs alongside Kevin Mitchell and this has delighted his Ghanaian trainer Carl Lokko.

“This is overwhelming for us, because it is historic, this is a top class boxer who fought top boxers and for him to spar with Commey is refreshing.

“The opportunity will help us prepare well for our future bouts, we are not sleeping in London, we are really training and we are hoping that things will be better for us all”.

“For now no opponent is ready to fight us, so we are just waiting for a boxer to come out but in boxing too you don’t wait you push for it and so our promoter is doing so and we are hoping things will change for us in the near future”.
