Cocoa Thief Jailed 2 Years

Yaw Kpalitey, a labourer, has been  sentenced to two years imprisonment by a Tarkwa Circuit Court for stealing two bags of cocoa valued GH¢424 belonging to Akuapa Kokoo Buying Company. He pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo, that the complainant was a purchasing clerk at Wassa Kwaben near Asankrangwa in the Western Region

Detective Amponsah said on December 6, last year, a woman saw the convict heading towards a room where the complainant had kept his bags of cocoa.

The prosecutor said the woman saw him opening the door and carrying a bag of cocoa. He later on put it near a house and went for another bag of cocoa.

He said the witness informed the complainant and with the assistance of some people, the convict was arrested and handed over to the police.—GNA
