Cocoa clerks told to pay bonus upfront

Nana Kweku Appiah, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Manager of the Produce Buying Company Limited, has asked marketing clerks to pay the 2014/15 farmers bonus upfront.

He warned that any clerk who failed to follow the directives would be sanctioned.

Nana Appiah gave the warning at Brakwa during a duty tour, and called on the farmers to endeavour to obtain the farmers passbooks, and bring them along anytime they visited society centres to weigh their produce.

Nana Appiah said that was important in order to make recordings in their passbooks, to enable the company to have true data of the farmers, adding that with the passbooks they could have access to scholarships from COCOBOD for their wards.

He said the district had set up a team that would move around to check the payment of the bonuses, to ensure a successful disbursement of the bonuses. -
