The Abundance Life Assemblies of God Church, Dansoman in Accra, has organised a health screening exercise for residents within its catchment area as part of its 25th anniversary celebration.

More than 100 persons were screened of malaria, diabetes, hepatitis B and blood pressure.

The anniversary, which was climaxed on Sunday, was on the theme, “Celebrating His faithfulness”, brought together members of the church from across Accra.

Speaking at the screening exercise, Reverend David Donkoh, Director and Senior Pastor of the church, said in as much as the church sought spiritual intervention for its members, it was equally important that their physical needs were taken care of.

He said paying attention to the medical needs of the members was one way of catering for the physical needs of the people, saying that “every year the church organises health screening exercise for the community, irrespective of their faith.”

Rev Donkoh was grateful for the huge turn-up for the exercise, and urged them to take their health matters seriously.

On his part, the Head of the medical team, Francis Yeboah noted that persons with diseases such as diabetes and malaria were given treatment after they had been screened.

He said those who were diagnosed with serious illnesses were however, referred to the appropriate health facilities for further examination and treatment.

As part of the celebration, the church also donated assorted drinks and other items to the inmates of the Weija Leprosarium.
