Chilinga Emerges Champ In Inter-Platoon Boxing Tournament

The Inter Platoon Nov- ices Boxing Competition of the Ghana Military Academy was held on Friday with the Chilinga Platoon emerging as the overall winners after series of nerve-wracking boxing showdown.

The annual Cowbell sponsored event saw four females and 10 males engaging themselves in some enterprising bouts to the delight of fans and officials gathered at the arena.

Fourteen engaging bouts were held on the night with some boxers showing class to come out victorious while others struggled to end the three-round affair.

The boxers from each of the participating platoons fought in various weight categories including, light heavy, welter and middle weight.

But out of the three Platoons, namely Abyssinia, Burma and Chilinga, it was the latter that proved to have quality and won much emerge as overall winners.

Individual boxers however were rewarded for their outstanding performances on the night while losers were made to carry poles across the arena.

Best Female boxer went to NDCT Sessi Adamtey while the Best Male boxer went to ACDT Agyemang Duah.

The Gallant Loser on the night went to OCDT Odei Kissi for given his opponent a run for his money though he was defeated at the end.

Winners walked away with trophies and products from Cowbell.

Brig. Gen Musa Waja was present as special guest and congratulated all the boxers for showing up for the event.

Cowbell also provided drinks for all participants and guests present at the event and has assured the academy of their commitment to their events.

Boxing is the newest addition to the list of Cowbell sponsored sporting events which include athletics and cycling.
