The chief of Sota, near Afienya, in the Greater Accra Region, 57-year-old Nene Bataku III and two others were gunned down by some assailants at Mango Tsonya, near Afienya, in the early hours of yesterday.
The others are Peter Tometey Chartey, 32, son of the chief, and Fred Kweku Tei, 65, head of the family
According to the police, the deceased were on their way to a family meeting at Ningo when two men on a yellow-black motorbike pursued and made the driver to lose control and drive the car into a ditch.
Chief Superintendent Kwesi Ofori, the Dodowa Divisional Police Commander, said the pillion rider on the motorbike, got down, pulled an AK-47 rifle and shot the three men.
He returned to the bike, and they sped off.
Mr. Ofori said some residents called the police who rushed to the scene and conveyed the bodies to the Police Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
A team of investigators from the Criminal Investigations Department of the Police Headquarters in Accra and Tema visited the scene later to conduct initial investigations.
Chief Supt Ofori said the police were conducting further investigations into the case.
