Car Washer Arrested For Stealing Car

Kuranchi handcuffed standing near the car.A ‘Car Washer’ who stole a client’s Toyota Corolla at a Washing Bay and attempted to sell it at Obuasi has been arrested by the police.Michael Kuranchie, 24 was arrested while negotiating a price for the car with a buyer.

Narrating the story to The Ghanaian Times yesterday, the Commander of Community One Police Division, Chief Superintendent Victor Amedeker, said on April 30 at 7:30 a.m., Godwin Korley, the owner of the unregistered Toyota Corolla, with trade number plate DV1532 A, sent it to the Jordan Washing Bay near the Unilever Ghana, in the Tema Industrial area, for washing.

He left the car with key in the ignition with Kuranchi, one of the washers.

However, when Korley returned in the evening to take his car home, he had the shock of his life when he learned that Koranchi had bolted away with it.

Korley, reported the matter to the police and during investigation it became apparent Kuranchi had gone to sell the car at Obuasi, where he previously worked as a galamseyer. He was arrested subsequently.
