Cabinet Approves Expansion Of Essakyir Water Works

COLLINS DAUDA MINISTER OF WORKS AND HOUSING (1)Cabinet has given approval for some additional works to be done on the Essakyir Water Supply Project.

A statement signed by the Minister of Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, said the plant, with a design horizon of  2030, would have the capacity to pump 14,400cubic metres of water per hour.

The scope of work includes the building of a raw water intake and weir on the Ochi Nakwa river, and a conventional water treatment plant, including a high lift pumping station.

Others are the laying of a 42km HDPE transmission pipeline in different diameters from Esuehyia to Arkra/Ekumpoana junction, from Esuehyia to Otuam/Mumford junction, from Otuam/Mumford junction to Mumford, and from Otuam/Mumford junction to Otuam and Muna-Aboano-Sarefa.

“It will also include a 10km HDPE (DN110) distribution pipeline and the construction of reservoirs in Mbroboto, Kokodo, and Otuam among others, with total capacity of 1,500 cubic metres,” the statement said.
