One other accomplice identified only as Ismaila is on the run and being sought for by the Police.
The suspect, Jacob Soku, a Taxi driver was reported to have hired the services of the victim, Solomon Asante, who is a taxi driver from Obeyeyie to Boosu.
The Amasaman District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Elvis Bawa Sadongo, told The Ghanaian Times that Soku was currently in police custody assisting the police in investigations.
He said on September 20, Soku hired the services of Asante from Obeyeyie to Boosu to send her sick sister to the hospital.
ASP Sudongo said on their way to the hospital the suspect ordered the driver to take another passenger, a man he claimed was the husband of his sick sister, before they continued the journey.
DSP Sadongo said the two took their victim to an isolated area.
He said Soku accomplice alighted from the taxi and told driver he was going for his wife, adding that few minutes later; Soku attacked the cabbie and ordered him to surrender the car.
DSP Sadongo said Soku twisted the neck of the driver ad took away keys to the car and Asante raised the alarm, which attracted some residents, who came to the rescue of the driver and apprehended the suspect, and handed him over to the police at Amaasaman.
Soku admitted the offence and said that he conspired with one Ismaila, the said husband of his sick sister, to rob the taxi from the driver.
