A Kumasi Circuit Court has granted a 32-year-old driver, Kofi Joshua, who allegedly stole a taxi cab, a GH¢10,000 bail with a surety.
His accomplice, Oheneba Afriyie, a taxi driver, was also granted bail in the same amount for dishonestly receiving.
They would appear again before the court, presided over by Madam Comfort Tasiame, on June 26.
Chief Inspector Timothy Amoako, prosecuting told the court that the complainant was an auto electrician and owner of the Opel Astra cab with registration number AS 9242-Z.
He said Joshua, on March 3, asked complainant to allow him use his taxi for commercial purposes and after receiving the keys to it, vacated his residence and went into hiding.
Several attempts by complainant to locate him and the car proved futile.
On April, 12, 2015, complainant had information about his hideout and with the help of some people, arrested and handed him over to the Suame Police.
Chief Inspector Amoako said investigations, revealed that Joshua sold the cab to Afriyie for GH¢6,000. prepared a receipt for him and promised to provide the documents covering it.
Afriyie was also arrested and the vehicle retrieved from him.
After investigations, the two were put before the court.
