A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe has rubbished the party’s flagbearer, Nana Addo’s Dankwa Akufo-Addo ongoing nationwide tour which has been dubbed “Rise and Build”.
According to him, the tour is just a waste of time and should be treated with contempt by all well-meaning party activists.
“This ‘Rise and Build’ tour will not help anybody; it will not help the party. It will not help the cause of the party at all,” he maintained in an interview, yesterday.
Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe further argued that Nana Akufo-Addo lacked the strategy to clinch power for the NPP in the 2016 general election.
“By now, he should know certain things that will bring you to power. I keep on referring to former President Kufour, he knows how to get power. I have been with Kufour for years.”
He further insinuated that his party’s flagbearer does not know how to kow-tow before others to win their support – a trait he argued would affect Nana Addo’s presidential ambition.
“Former President Kufour can lie down on the floor for you to walk over him, just for power. Through that, he (Kufour) annexed power. If you find it difficult to get down to the level of the ordinary person, then who is going to give you his or her vote?”
The founding member of the NPP, however, expressed worry over the internal wrangling within the ‘Elephant’ fraternity, and accused the flagbearer of sidelining his National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong in his ongoing tour.
“Nana Akufo-Addo knows very well that you cannot win political power with a divided front. If anybody cannot tell him I can tell him. If people are afraid of Nana Akufo-Addo, I am not afraid of him.”
“Those latter-day saints around him are creating big problems for him,” Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe added.
He further advised that the NPP needed a united front, without that, “we cannot win power. A united front is a key to success in any political institution”.
