Business community hails establishment of Dubai Chamber of Commerce

Executive-TowersSome members of the business community have hailed the establishment of a Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the country.

Speaking in an interview with the Times Business, after the official opening of the Dubai Chamber in the plush World Trade Center Building near the Cedi House in Accra yesterday, they said the office would help to promote trade between the two countries and also help business men to access investment opportunities in the respective countries on timely basis.

With the tagline, “we help international companies feel at home;” the Dubai Chamber was opened in Accra last week to facilitate and promote trade between Ghana and Dubai.

The chairman of Auto Plaza Limited, M.S. Hijazi said the setting up of the chamber in Accra was the best thing to have happened to Ghana.

“With the increasing level of trade between Ghana and Dubai, there was the need for an office to provide business information about the two countries,” he said.

Mr. Hijazi said the office would help to strengthen the bilateral, trade and economic relationship between the two countries.

“Not only would the country benefit from the Dubai Office in Ghana, but the business community through the businesses which would be established in Ghana through that relationship,” he said.

The first Vice President of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce, Dr Prosper Adabla, also lauded the decision  for the establishment of the Dubai Chamber.

He said the Ghana Chamber of Commerce played critical roles in the setting up of the office in Ghana through providing advisory services.

Dr. Adabla said the Dubai Chamber in Ghana would be a big relief to the members of the business community import from Dubai, adding that, the office would aid local companies to secure strategic investors to partner them to expand their businesses.

“The Ghana Chamber of Commerce would collaborate with the Dubai Chamber, which invariably is located in the same building, to promote trade between the two countries,” he said.

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry was established in 1965 as a non-profit organisation with the mission to represent, support and protect the interests of the business community in Dubai creating a favourable business environment, supporting the development of business, and promoting Dubai  as an international business hub.

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry which is the biggest trade organisation in the gulf region, currently has a membership of 170,000 companies across the world with the capacity to export over $70 billion worth of products annually.
