Bukom Banku stopped!

Bukom BankuBastie Samir vowed to stop ‘talkative’ Braimah Kamoko (Bukom Banku) and he did, in front of a huge crowd at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Saturday night.
In a non-title fight scheduled for 12 rounds, Bastie produced the performance of his career to end Bukom’s undefeated record by stopping him in the seventh round.
Banku looked in danger of being stopped earlier after he fell but held on before Bastie delivered the clinical blows in the seventh round to secure the victory and maintain his enviable unbeaten record.
Samir’s record after the famous win reads 16-0-1, 15 KOs.
The much-anticipated fight dubbed ‘Make or Break’, lived up to expectations with both boxers putting up a good show for the fans.
Banku started the fight as the favourite due to his experience and won the opening two rounds, but Samir recovered well to win round three where he first floored Banku.
BankuSamir again delivered a combination of jabs and punches in unbelievable style to daze Banku in the 7th round.
Roger Banor, the referee for the night, decided to end the misery of Banku who clearly looked out of sorts.
Banku record now stands at 30-1, 22 KOs.
And speaking shortly after being crowned, Samir expressed his readiness to face the self-acclaimed ‘Boxing Graduate/ Boxing Ronaldo’ again.
“No problem, I’m good. I’m always ready, so if he wants a rematch, I will give him that.”
The Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah, presented a GH¢5,000 cheque to Bastie Samir for winning the fight. The two boxers were expected to receive GH¢100,000 each, irrespective of the outcome.- Joy Sports
