Buipe Bost Depot Resumes Full Operation In Sept.

The Buipe sub-station of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Station Limited (BOST) in the Northern Region is to resume full operation in September, Communication Manager, Salifu Nat Achea-pong, has said.

He said the temporal shut down of the sub-station was not due to financial difficulties as being speculated, but rather for maintenance purposes.

He explained that none of the machines and equipment at the depot was functioning normally and that the company had to carry out the routine maintenance on them to prolong their life span.

Mr. Acheapong was addressing the media at the Buipe depot in the Central Gonja district on Friday on the various stages of operations at the depot and the Savelugu Booster Station.

He assured the journalists that the company’s doors are widely opened and that “no journalist should hesitate to come for any information regarding its operations”.

Mr. Ayarkwa Fred, Buipe BOST Depot Manager, said the depot was not completely shut down and explained that it still distributes fuel to the three northern regions and some parts of Brong-Ahafo Region.

He said the depot has 10 large tanks with a total capacity of 50 million litres which is enough for its operational areas.

According to him, the depot receives petroleum products from its mother station in Tema in two modes; by transportation through fuel tanks and the lake.

He also said that the Buipe depot had two batches on the lake which are in good condition, adding that products from the depot are of high quality as it does not compromise quality and safety measures.
